Settlement Pasian di Prato

Speaking at the inauguration of the City Council - June 29, 2009
Mr President, city councilors, I would like first to greet, congratulate and wish good job, as well as the new Mayor of Dr. Pasian di Prato. Fausto Cosatti, to all the councilors, confirmed or re-appointment, my colleagues in this House Civic.

At the same time would like to acknowledge and thank the outgoing councilors 9: COVRA Guido, Pierluigi D'ANTONI, Gianpaolo Del Fabbro, Remo OF MORA, George GOBITTI, Fausto Micol, Maura PONTON, Giorgio Pozzi, Ermanno VENIER, for the work and commitment, to a greater or lesser extent, in the period just ended.
In particular I want to thank the former directors and Pierluigi COVRA Guido D'ANTONI that I think deserve a mention more than others, for the dedication with which they played the role of opposition and administrative control, some denouncing waste and keeping attention alive some administrative situations that still require vigilance.

also wish to greet all the people here today and in large numbers to attend the inauguration of new City Council, and I want to especially thank those 663 people who give their vote to the 16 candidates of the Civic List Autonomy and Community, expressed their appreciation for our electoral program, for people who made up the list to my person, allowing the election of the undersigned and Mrs Erna Antonutti, the only female representative, within this civic assembly.
Their confidence placed in us while it makes us happy for the result achieved, we charging the other of responsibility, we will try to honor the best possible and within the limits of our ability. I would like to thank the
OF ITALY values for the external support given to my candidacy for mayor and for having trust and support, through the spaces of indirect propaganda, the Civic Party Autonomy and Community, which I represent here.

The election resulted as the recent elections has unquestionably established the success of the coalition of center-right, legitimizing the government of Dr. Pasian di Prato. Fausto Cosatti, a legitimacy that the new Mayor, but, despite the 2,695 votes received is reflected in the consensus of 48.49% of voters, while the forces of the minority, though divided, and some even have its own adviser (eg Guido Covre with the European People's Alliance or Robert P. Degano with Left of Prato) together account for 51.11% and therefore the majority of voters.
Unlike previously, and unlike the case with Mayor Stephen Stefanel and then with the Mayor Lorenzo Tosolini, legitimized by the electorate in more than 50%, it should be noted that, instead, on the occasion of these elections, 2009, the percentage at least 50% + 1 of voters, has not been reached.
Squidoo and I stress this fact, not to delegitimize the election of Dr. Fausto Cosatti, I repeat that was clear and quantitatively significant, but to show how today's minorities, the minorities are not, representing, in fact, 51.11% of voters. Although this, to which I invite the Mayor and his coalition to take into account, so that the requests and proposals to be advanced from today by the so-called "opposition" can be evaluated and taken into account.

Regarding the election results obtained from the Civic List Autonomy and Community I think that the political choice to focus on an alternative program with content and themes close to the people, has proved a good choice.
one list at the end, has collected more votes than any other civil list and even some party-list, ranking the 4th place among the 10 lists in the race, pointing to a campaign lived on the streets, squares, in fractions, between people, developed in hundreds of meetings and talks.
We achieved this with our sensitivity and ability to build human and social relationships, nurtured by meetings in which the personal stories, feelings, expectations and hopes have built political career summed up in the program.
We, unlike others, we founded our chances of winning alliances built on the last day, or better on marriages of convenience, convenience od'opportunità policy, certain agreed at the last hour, we constructed the Our success on the arithmetic sum of partisan badges or symbols, which are accredited by the drumming media exposure and television, as well as we set ourselves the goal of victory to be able to govern, peacefully, without the need for balance or political compromises for choosing the vice-mayor, or to assign the last available place of assessor.

Instead, we focused on the quality of the proposal, seeking at all costs, victory and power.
The power is not always a matter of 'QUALITY' is a matter of 'quantity'. " Power is
cards and ratings.
But democracy is safe only when the "quality of the proposals" determines the "amount consent ". In a democracy does not always win the best proposal, but who gets one vote more than others. I had also sung in the musical show held at Municipal Auditorium closing of the election campaign saying, "Who will, who will, who will be the new Mayor of the Community is perhaps not the best but certainly he'll be the one that votes the people will. "
Democracy is safe, but democracy can become a disaster if you miss the relationship between "quality" and "quantity", or even worse when the lower quality, with increased consensus.

We were and are still convinced of the goodness and quality of proposed programmatic and administrative assistance that we face the electorate. We have shared and supported a number of requests that were addressed: cost reduction policy, more resources for the family and social welfare, greater administrative transparency and more involvement and participation of those who want to comment on decisions affecting their own country conceiving, then, democracy in terms of political debate, to be fed every day as normal, ordinary and permanent government, not as isolated five-year appointment with the ballot.
We set out a campaign on not cloying, and in some ways anachronistic ideological confrontation between right and left, but on its ability to offer the electorate a possible alternative choice between different options, able to bring greater benefit to the community, in the interest of many and not the few. We have taken this path
understood not as an individual and an individual but as a "travel in a group" as a collective experience, not to occupy a place but to put at the service of others.

Looking ahead you will be working trying to engage and win over those many hundreds of people residing in Pasian di Prato, a few years ago, people who maybe do not have roots in our Country and who do not know much about the history past and present policy and that inevitably, at the time of the vote, as they only reference the traditional symbols of national parties. It will be essential to providing information for the coming years in order to cultivate a more informed electorate and able to make new choices. This election was thus a starting point to continue to build a viable alternative.
This unique list, made up of people in their first administrative experience, has managed to collect good results of preference, thereby laying the foundations for a solid project, creating also a group that, with some additional grafting, will aim high.

In my last call I asked the electorate to prefer "collective interest" and to place the "common good" to the sometimes selfish personal interests.
I put my hope for a positive result (which is partly state), the possibility that people could make an informed choice, determined by comparison of the different policy proposals, free from external influences or pressures of various kinds, who could focus on the commitment and personal history of each candidate, which invited people to not only promises future but also the consistency with the choices made and behaviors required in the past, seeking the reliability of people and their credibility that comes from keeping one's word, and the motivations that drive administrative commitment.
I think this wish, in this election, it is only partly implemented and that will undermine some of the lobby would not be fully expressed and manifested.

I think local politics, to make a quantum leap, needs a cultural support that can sustain and enlighten, to make them discover that in addition to the IO and our innate need to IO, there is also the other; there are also others, to which we must open up, rooted in values such as respect, solidarity, the law, tolerance, equal dignity.
I think that our local politics needs the temper that comes from culture to culture that embodies or at least pay attention to the needs of the weak or those who are "worse" in order to be able to return to a culture of "WE" and not just the selfish IO.

I think the campaign just ended has clearly recorded facts and events that have appeared like unseemly opportunism, before which could have been said, and caused me to say, the NO dry and inflexible.
I think that culture, understood as the principles and basic values of our existence human is the means whereby we can make it capable of being able to say, in our daily lives, professional but also political and administrative, of the necessary NO! of'm not there '! the "AS 'WRONG! the "AS 'NOT TO DO!
of NO to be proud of.
of NO that contribute to a person "FREE".
of NO do not get that help you go below the waterline of dignity.
change and the alternative, I think they can pass through the pronouncement of an NO open net, said at the right time.

Although trust and believe in my heart, from the beginning to the end of this election campaign, the possibility of a victory and then for an alternative, a turn and a change, I calmly state the different outcome resulted from the polls and the will of the voters.
consider the results obtained from all of us still positive and I think that the work, sharing and processing of the program, relationships and human contacts established with many people, are a heritage not be lost but may constitute the solid basis on which engage the work we're going to play in the future, not only by white minority of the council, but also keeping between the group of candidates on the list and among the citizens who have approached us, that collaboration, the regular exchange of opinions, information and ideas needed to power one another regularly and to keep alive the "attention and popular participation" attentive and alert to the vicissitudes of public and political administration of our municipality.
The blog "giorgioursig.blogspot.com" continue to remain open in the future to continue to maintain a relationship and dialogue with the population.
So maybe, in some, the disappointment at the failure to win or for non-election may have crept in to soften the possibility of seeing a direct impact on the management of the municipal administration, but invite you to see the so-called "half full glass ", meaning the trust placed in us by 663 persons, not a number but a number of real people who have believed in us and that we have entrusted their representation in municipal institutional forum. We do not want to disappoint them and we will strive to remain consistent with what we wrote in our program and that, within the limits of what can be implemented by the banks of the minority, we are committed to building, looking ahead to the future, to new horizons, new goals, what we can determine or at least influence with our work.

During the election campaign we have said that: "The future belongs to those who believe in their dreams", we said that: "For a new project that comes there is new hope that grows."
continue to nurture that hope and dream in those who do not feed them for a less costly administration, more participatory, more transparent, able to charm and conquer other people.

The "Spirit of Service" that animates our work and we decided to play, our social and public commitment, I hope that can continue to be our reference horizon.
