Watch Operation Repo The Movie

paths in freedom: Art is the variety

on display until April 30 at the Palace of Prisons in Venice, the works of Simone Bonato.

Yesterday morning I was at the opening of 'Simone Bonato anthology, "Paths in freedom: art is the variety" .

The exhibition will run April 19 to 30 , 10-13/15-18 a lunch at the Palace of Prisons Venice (right next to the ducal palace, on the Riva degli Schiavoni), host of the Artistic Circle Venice. Admission is free.

For those not familiar, Simone Bonato is an altinate doc, even if a bit 'of years he moved to Jesolo for work (teaching Hotelmanagementschool Cornaro). Personally, I knew I had yes and no 5 years, as a classmate of my sister, and I think part of having him in my passion for music played - I still remember his first lessons of "piano" to the tune of Vamos a la playa of Righeira ...).

Born in 1971, Simon grew up in the Quarto d'Altino 70s and 80s that assimilating sense of humility and simplicity (and not of frustration and rejection) in those years that the province could still give. A very significant aspect in a world in which all self-proclaimed "artists", no matter what they do but also how they do it. Speaking with him it soon becomes clear that it is natural to suggest that is the man (with his creativity, his dexterity, his ingenuity) what must be in the service of art , not vice versa. And if by mistake you will be called "artist" looks at you with his little eyes, he paints a wry smile e. .. sends you to hell.

A demonstration of this way of understanding the creative act is his technique, not oil paint brush to spread on canvas, but hot glue, silicone or polyurethane foam "fired" on tablets made of polycarbonate, PVA glue mixed with sand and spread with a spatula, plastic sheets handled the kitchen blowtorch, hot wax ships with saccapoche, objects of all shapes and origin "trapped" inside the vacuum bags ...

The result is not, as one would imagine, similar to some production 'informal' in the second half of the twentieth century (think of butter, for Italy, or Tapies, for Spain) since this -free use libertarian-libertine materials created works that not only the colors (all colors) are the protagonists almost absolute, but the shape, design, form is discernible, though not always immediately. I am referring especially to the sands and some wax, in which the subject (the "figure") or you can imagine thanks to a clever play of signs and colors in the sand, or transparencies obtained through a particular use of the wax.

Simone will also host the collective "Exhibitions Square - Arts and Crafts Altinate" scheduled between late April and early May 2010 in Quarto d'Altino, but only three works. So I suggest you make a jump in Venice before the end of the month!
